Introduction to NicheFashion.co.uk
NicheFashion.co.uk was finally created in July 2010 by Vikki Taylor, 26 from Newcastle – she loves fizzy cola bottles, is a snowy owl and partial to raspberry mojitos on a night out. What an introduction eh? Vikki launched yo-shorty.co.uk in April 2008, with her long body and short legs Vikki noticed a gap online for quality online reviews on petite clothing.
After success with yo-shorty.co.uk Vikki started to think about other niche fashion types and how there must be women out there looking for clothing to suit their body shape or need. This is when it all started to happen, over the last 2 years Vikki has gone on to purchase the following domains and needs your help to get some fresh, funky content on there!
- leggylady.co.uk – fashion for ladies over 5’7”
- woahmoma.co.uk – maternity wear doesn’t have to be boring!
- classicchic.co.uk – fashion for the over 50’s
- workitgirl.co.uk – workwear which really gets you places!
- cozywear.co.uk – chill out, lounge around, and look fab
- bountifull.co.uk – where more is definitely more!
- urbanfizz.co.uk – clubwear with extra sparkle
- mysexyvalentine.co.uk – lingerie you love and they love to take off!
- sportychic.co.uk – yes it does matter what you wear to workout!
There are plenty more avenues to explore and more sites to come, but these exciting niche fashion sites are ready for you to put your stamp on them!
What will I be doing on my internship?
During your internship we will be concentrating on giving you an overview of what would be required of you if you were an online editor. This is very different to a print journalist or copywriter. We’ll go over that more in our workshop.
Ooo workshop you say? Yes, we will expect all of our interns to attend a start up workshop where we will go over the key principles of SEO, online copy writing, link building and affiliate marketing. This will be invaluable to you and this experience could even spur you on to develop a site of your own!
During your internship you will have core tasks that you need to complete every week. This includes, writing posts which will not only appear on the site, but are emailed to your subscribers, general house keeping tasks like checking your site is displaying correctly, linking to your favourite products, image manipulation and keyword research.
We’re also looking for your ideas because you’ll quickly become a product specialist and know exactly what you need to do in order to make your site perform better. This is an invaluable skill which media companies look for so make the most of it – no idea is a silly idea!
What will I get out of it?
NEW! We are now offering all interns 40% of the revenue they generate via their site. This will not be a lot to start off with but once you get your site established it should be a nice little earner. This creates a nice win win situation for everyone, I get editors who are motivated to not only write great content, but also think about the business side of things; and you get paid. In terms of revenue, you get out whatever you put in so how much you earn is in your control!
At the end of your 12 weeks you will work with NicheFashion.co.uk we will be running a get ready for reality review where we will go over your CV with you and write up a spanking overview of what you have done for NicheFashion.co.uk.
As well as this we will work together on a portfolio of all the work you have done and how well you have done against your Key Performance Indicators as set at the start of your internship. This is fantastic for potential employers and will give you a great record of what you have achieved during your internship.
There is also potential for you to continue to work on your site after the 12 weeks. During our review we will both have the opportunity to decide if this is something we would look to continue or stop after the 12 weeks. After all if it is going well then this is not something I would want to cut off just as you are getting into your stride!
The 12 weeks
Start Up Workshop
Before you start your 12 week internship you will be expected to attend a start up workshop where you will learn about our blog platform, writing for the web, linking to items featured in the post, image manipulation, working with search engines, link exchanges and much more. After this you will be straight into the nitty gritty of online fashion writing! No hanging around here!
Weeks 1 and 2
During these weeks you will write the core pages for you site. These are the most important pages and will take a lot of hard work and determination.
Weeks 3 and 4
During these weeks you will write reviews of the key shops relating to your niche. This is perfect for getting to know the current ranges and latest offers.
Weeks 5 to 12
This is the fun part, you’ll be thinking of the topics for your blog posts as well as generating links and friends for the site. By now you’ll be really confident in you writing and using our online tools.
Get Ready For Reality Review
As mentioned above this is where we will help you put together a portfolio of the work you did on the site and also help you add the experience to your CV.
